Amanda Hawkins, my awesome sister-in-law (and the builder/designer of this site) is creating a collage a day on Instagram for #The100DayProject. Here are a few of my favorite pieces of her art, but you really should just follow Amanda on Instagram.

Zach Fountain (rushmore beekeepers) at Couch by Couchwest 2015

I know you’re thinking, what did he mean by “Couch By Couchwest 2015 (indoors)”? Did he mean there was an “outdoors” session? Well, if that’s what you thought, you thought right.

Watch rushmore beekeepers play “breathe easy,” “just passing by,” and “what it’s like to be sad” at CXCW 2015 and keep a lookout for several guest appearances (and some backing vocals) from Kyla the dog.

For this year’s Couch By Couchwest music festival – in its fifth year! – I moved some instruments into the living room to record an electrified, drum-looped version of “your pretty black bow.” Carrie, the wearer of the pretty black bow, staged the couch very nicely. Unlike last year, Kyla doesn’t make an appearance (in this video, anyway).

Watch rushmore beekeepers play “your pretty black bow” at CXCW 2015, and spend the rest of your week couch-surfing (or working, or doing whatever you need to) with some good tunes from musicians all over the world.

Music blog Bucket Full of Nails included the like they do in movies song “ufos” on February 27’s playlist, along with Colleen Green, Houndmouth, Pete Greenwood, Pretend Sweethearts, Riverboat Gamblers, The Deep Dark Woods, The Martha’s Vineyard Ferries, The Whereabouts, and Town Mountain. Have a listen! The blog has a long list of well-curated weekly playlists, so check it out and discover some new music. You always need new music, right?

Fun fact: I first heard about The Deep Dark Woods (whose “Westside Street” is featured on the playlist) from a very nice stranger at a killer Dawes show in Las Vegas, NV back in 2011. Nice to have our paths cross in the digital world.

Because there’s always more to talk about when it comes to space aliens, Mothman and other weird things that definitely exist, I recently joined a panel discussion on this special edition of Lucy Steigerwald’s Politics for People Who Hate Politics podcast, appropriately titled Space Aliens for People Who Hate Politics. We didn’t discuss Buddy Holly’s abduction and subsequent years as king of Ganymede, because that would take hours.
